Because of you, grants that positively affect the community can be funded. The 2021-2023 grant cycle awarded $430,000 in funding to 12 local agencies.
Recently, over $438,000 was awarded to local agencies in response to COVID-19 to increase access to food, serve basic needs for struggling families and provide emergency response.
The community is supportive in providing more than 19,000 school supplies to area classrooms through the Fill the Bus initiative; in shipping more than 152,000 books to area children through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library; in distributing 28,000 diapers through the MLK, Jr. Day of Action 2021 Diaper Drive, and in organizing the PreK4Ward program initiative, which is measurably preparing children for kindergarten success.
Last year, $325,964 was returned to the service area because of free tax preparation services, VITA, offered to 160 people, and more than $660,848 was saved in prescription medicine costs through the SingleCare prescription savings card
In the aftermath of Hurricane Zeta, over 4,000 calls for assistance and 1,500 work orders were taken from community members in collaboration with the Harrison County Long-Term Recovery Committee.
